Brief description of duties:
* Counsels clients individually and in groups in job search strategies, interviewing skills, and other topics.
* Recommends, administers and interprets career assessments.
* Develops individual employment plans, identifies support services and makes appropriate agency referrals.
* Coordinates and tracks participant readjustment and retraining activity.
* Coordinates with Business Services unit.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in career or vocational counseling, or a closely related discipline.
* Minimum one year of experience in career counseling and vocational assessment.
Required skills, knowledge and abilities
* Ability to interview persons from a wide variety of backgrounds to obtain information about their employment skills and goals.
* Ability to identify and assess needs and barriers to re-employment and to develop employment plans to address barriers.
* Ability to read, understand, explain and apply complex local, state and federal regulations, policies and procedures
* Ability to speak effectively to groups and prepare written and oral reports.
* Computer literacy in Windows, MS Word, Excel and the Internet
* Knowledge of local labor market and employment trends
* Working knowledge of community resources
Special Requirements:
* Valid CDL and reliable motor transportation
* Must be available to work on some weekends and evenings.
