Hi,
I make canvasses for oil/ acrylic paintings and sell them for FAR LESS than what you see in Utrecht, Pearl, and the the other art supply stores in town.
The quality of the carpentry is much better than the stores too. It breaks my heart to see so many students spending $50-60.00 on one flimsy canvas. Having good quality, low-cost resources is one way to keep art supply costs from breaking your back.
(advice: Mail order your brushes and paints and you'll save alot there as well)
Most of the canvasses I make measure from 1 foot up to 5 & 1/2 feet. 2 x 3's, 4 x 3'3, 4 x 4's, 4 x 5s, just note what you need.
Think modular, these work really well in sets, like a diptych or triptych, then you can go large scale and still transport them.
I can prime canvasses or leave them unprimed for you. I can also just make them without canvas, or with #10 or #12 cotton duck. For nicer material I usually just have you buy it, or if the voilume is great enough, I just ask for a deposit.
The main thing is that you can get ALOT of canvasses for your money compared to the stores. I use Pine for most stretchers, and Poplar for high-end stuff.
-Feel free to contact me at karl@klxsystems.net for pricing, multiple units always net a discount. I try to deliver downtown, as I live on Treasure Island, I have two trucks, so if you have a really big project, like a mural, or theater/ movie set, no problem.
