The Buyer will have responsibilities as outlined to support a defined business group and will be a subject expert in software agreements. Guidance will be provided by the Strategic Sourcing Manager. The Buyer will provide excellent support to all customers and adhere to ethical practices. Additional projects and tasks are undertaken on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities:
As a Business Resource:
- Provide forecasting and strategies.
- Complete supplier analysis.
- Define customers’ true need.
- Conduct market research.
- Develop requested reports.
As a Buyer in Strategic Sourcing:
- Be a subject matter expert for software agreements.
- Develop new sources of supply.
- Solicit proposals.
- Conduct contract negotiations and execute contract.
- Manager contracts and vendor relationships.
- Develop and maintain excellent internal and external relationships.
- Improve supplier performance.
- Develop and monitor reports such as spend reports, open order reports.
- Complete the procurement cycle from bid to receipt.
- Develop procurement policies.
- Administer reverse auctions.
- Conduct administrative aspects such as file maintenance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business and / or C.P.M. preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
- 4-5 years of relevant experience.
- Must be detailed oriented and able to multi-task.
- Good communication skills are required as this person will interact with departments and provide training.
- Good understanding of SAP architecture is required with the ability to learn new/additional skills.
- In addition to standard Microsoft applications, this person must also have some experience working with financial/accounting data and be expected to learn basic processing in the major user areas (Accounts Payable, Purchasing, General Ledger), to support user testing, inquiries, etc.
