• Provide general assistance to doctors, nurses, x-ray technicians, patients and families as needed.
• Typical duties are to lift patients; remove patient clothing and bag belongings; transfer patients from Emergency Department to private rooms; assist patients with performing basic bodily functions; help patients contact families; communicate patient needs to nurses; communicate information between doctors and nurses; clean gurneys; retrieve medicines, blood, medical records, and supplies; provide comfort and information to patients and families; and help deliver bodies to morgue.
• Skills include familiarity with facility, policies and services; ability to get along well with diverse range of people; physical strength; patience and calmness in high stress conditions and situations; ability to follow detailed direction and protocols; demonstrated initiative; and ability to work with minimal supervision.
