To start the flame you prop open the lid, take a long stick match or long stick lighter and touch the lit end into each can to light. One can burns for approximately up to 3 hours. When done, just close the lid. When the lid closes the fire will extinguish. After the cans cool, replace the lids on each can. This prevents the alcohol from evaporating. Then at any time the gel fuel can be re-lit.
The gel fuel Is made from Isopropyl Alcohol, with Water, Salt and Thickening agents. The flame height is 6-8". Carbon dioxide and water vapors are emitted from the gel fuel. There is no soot, no fumes, but it gives an awesome crackle! You can purchase more gel fuel on Ebay.
