Black Oak Books – North Beach is looking for an experienced book person for a full-time position. The ideal candidate will be familiar with both new and used books. The responsibilities include:
*Customer service
*Running the cash register
*Receiving new books
*Shelving new books
*Researching used books
*Pricing and shelving used books
*Contributing to the general maintenance of a busy bookshop
*Using Wordstock
*Light clerical and office duties
*Occasional heavy lifting of boxes of books
The person we are looking for will be able to step right in and make a difference from day one. We want someone who can take the initiative, knows books, is good with customers and co-workers, and likes to work hard.
Experience buying used books for resale is a definite plus.
Black Oak has three stores: the flagship in Berkeley, and two in San Francisco. The Berkeley store has been open 22 years. The North Beach store has been open almost six years. Black Oak has a hard-won reputation for excellence and we want employees to help us build upon our success.
