JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Basic Care Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Receiving Center Program Director
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Provide basic physical and health care to children, infant to 17 years of age, during short-term emergency or urgent transition by Child Protective Services to out-of-home placement. Includes welcoming children, assessing immediate needs, orienting the child to the facility, and providing snacks and meals, bathing, as indicated and assisting mental health staff with behavioral observations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work with diverse population. Minimum of one year experience working with children and adolescents. Three or more units in early childhood Education. CPR and Basic First Aide certified. Valid California driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Familiarity with the necessities for operation of child-care facility.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Bi-cultural background. Positive self-esteem and a knowledge of child development. BA degree in Human Services.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervise Receiving Center staff
2. Assess children’s immediate needs upon arrival.
3. Feed, bathe, and comfort children
4. Develop and implement play, resting and quiet times.
5. Work as a team member with CPS staff, public health nurses, mental health professionals, community representatives and volunteers.
6. Compile behavioral observations.
7. Complete progress and evaluation reports.
8. Complete counseling intakes as needed.
OTHER:
9. Meet with Family Stress Center direct supervisor as needed and for training.
10. Attend monthly Family Stress Center staff meetings.
11. Other tasks as required by Family Stress Center Supervisor.
HOURS: 40 hours per week
10:00 am – 7:00 pm, Monday - Friday
SALARY: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour / DOE
