On the success of its quilt business, AP extended its marketing and design reach into bedding ensembles, window treatments & window hardware, and full bath ensembles. It continues to be a leading supplier of fashion home furnishings to major specialty and department store retailers.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate Product Development Manager!

Responsibilities
This position is responsible for managing the solids fabric development process and partnerships as well as handling the administrative functions associated with the development process and communications. This role will also oversee day to day activities of the process and act as first level resolution on any issues.
  • Attends Solid fabric review, recommends color acting like the color analyst.
  • Manages Solid Fabric Development, working closely with Asia and Solid Fabric Assistant.
  • Communicates with Asia on rejected fabrics, giving them technical points to hit the color better.
  • Partners with Fabric Manager on other fabric development issues, trouble shooting/sharing email communication back to Asia.
  • Oversees and provides backup for Fabric Solid and CAD Assistant
  • Provides backup for SF Fabric Manager when not in office or traveling to Asia.

    Requirements
  • BA in Textiles or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in fabric development or textile manufacturing
  • Experience working closely with mills in developing fabrics
  • Working knowledge of fabric count and product construction, including all possible weaves (jacquard weaving) and various print techniques, different fibers and their properties, and the various finishes and finishing processes
  • Ability to make decisions on fabrications and detailing based on using expertise
  • Ability to distinguish color with a minimum passing score of 96
  • Strong sense of urgency; meet deadlines; juggle multiple projects simultaneously; thrive in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve problems quickly
