DESCRIPTION:
This is fixed-term position available through 12/31/06. Stanford University seeks a qualified person for a full-time fixed term position starting with part-time training commencing immediately and moving to full time in mid-April through December 2006. The Assistant Program Coordinator of the Stanford Publishing Courses is part of the team within Stanford University that produces and runs professional education courses for mid-career magazine and book publishing professionals. Courses include the world-renowned Stanford Professional Publishing Course (July 14-22, 2006). This course, which takes place in July, attract magazine and book publishers worldwide to the Stanford campus and environs each year. The Assistant Program Coordinator works with the Program Coordinator and Director to plan for and produce various courses. Duties are varied and include serving as first-point-of-contact for all participants, working with faculty, and planning courses and events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handling prospective participants’ questions, concerns and requests for brochures. Overseeing application process, registering accepted participants, invoicing and processing payments. Tracking faculty handouts and audiovisual requests. Creating course materials, including participant binders and handouts. Coordinating catering, housing etc. Greeting faculty and participants and looking after requests. Processing honorarium checks and ordering supplies. Paying bills and reimbursing speakers for travel. Maintaining databases of participants and interested parties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Superb organizational skills. Excellent command of English and ability to express oneself clearly in writing, in person and over the phone. Knowledge of Macintosh software for word processing, database management, and spreadsheets. Experience with Filemaker a strong plus. Experience with Stanford and its billing/payment systems is a strong plus. Event planning experience is a strong plus. SUL/AIR
