ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR

SALARY: Commensurate with Experience, plus benefits.
Administrative Assistant for a 245-unit Section-8, Section 236 Senior Housing community in San Francisco near the Japan Town shops and services.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Administrator, the Assistant Administrator is responsible for assisting the Administrator with the overall day-to-day operations of this property. Ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to work well with residents and staff. Familiarity with government subsidized housing preferred including Section 8 and Section 236 regulations.
Directly Responsible to: Administrator
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interface with Residents.
Receive and post rents and other income using both manual and computer systems.
Prepare Rent Reports, Non-Rent Charge Report and other reports as assigned including but not limited to Tenant Certification, Section 8 monthly billing, etc.
Maintain residential files.
Operate the computer with Property Management and Waiting List programs, which includes the administration of these programs and requirements.
Prepare and maintain work order files, work order history files and receive and prepare work order requests.
Process rental delinquent Notices.
Help support staff members in the screening of residents, lease preparation and related paperwork.
Attend required and optional training seminars and workshops.
Perform all other duties that may be requested by the Administrator or Supervisor and abide by and enforce all John Stewart Company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of skills that demonstrates familiarity with the general management of subsidized housing programs.
Relates well to people, exercises good judgment in dealing with owners, employees, residents, visitors and vendors.
Good interpersonal, listening, and organizational skills.
Must demonstrate ability to work as a team player as well as provide leadership during the Administrator’s absence.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Able to handle emergencies, resident concerns and complaints while meeting necessary deadlines.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and property management software.
Minimum three years experience in housing, social services or related field.
