ART NOUVEAU ARMOIRE
Art Nouveau Armoire (Wardrobe) circa 1885 – 1910 (Many times the ones with separated shelves were called “Linen Closets”.
This piece is in beautiful condition. It is 61” tall, 39 ½” wide and 17 ¼“ deep. It has four shelves. The door locks with a key.
Small glass panels are more sought after than the ones with mirrors seen more commonly. The fact that the glass is beveled is another plus (more rare) and a sign of a European origin. The wood is a hardwood and appears to be some type of European fruit wood or walnut. I believe the door centers are book-matched burled-walnut. The fact that it is a smaller scale is also a plus. They were seen more on the east and west coast where they could be shipped in usually from England/ France.
