We are a post-startup company in the process of re-furbishing our legacy production infrastructure. We anticipate a three phase plan of 1) discovery (auditing assets, documenting processes and interactions), 2) re-architecting - consolidating into a manageable number of servers, improving platform security and reliability, designing repeatable, documented platform management processes, 3) prioritizing required projects to migrate to the new architecture, planning, and executing against the plan. We are primarily focused on the system architecture (network and server platform) - not on the application code. Our goal is to start executing the plan quickly.
In the interim, we have a variety of low-intensity maintenance sysadmin tasks that need to be taken care of.
The ideal response would be from a company with a variety of resources and expertise (including deep linux knowledge, W2K Server knowledge, network design, heterogeneous networks, excellent ecommerce architecture experience, experience in working with small/mid-sized companies, and good references. Java and DBA experience would be very helpful. Linux scripting will be needed.) We'll look to you for recommendations on the server hardware that needs to be replaced and the specs for replacements. The ideal company will be able to work with us during all three phases to keep the current environment managed until we transition to the new environment. The ideal company would be able to manage this infrastructure on an outsourced basis after the transition. The end goal is lights-out management of the environment.
We need to move this forward, so ability to start quickly and produce results is critical. We're looking to establish a long-term relationship with someone who understands our needs and future directions and can help us get where we're going.
