Support for Families of Children with Disabilities is a non-profit organization that offers parent-to-parent support to families who have children with disabilities, and information and educational services to families and the professionals who work with them. Services include: a phone line, drop-in center, information and referral, support groups, parent mentor program, trainings, workshops, community education, special family events and newsletter.
We have an immediate opening for a part time (35 hours per week) Administrative Assistant who will manage the logistics of the office, site and programs, and provide clerical support for the Open Gate Resource Center staff. Duties include: maintaining database; monitoring and replacing office supplies and outreach materials; coordinating logistics for support groups, workshops, trainings, clinics, and special events; taking meeting minutes and supervision of office volunteers. The Administrative Assistant must be a clear thinker, detail-oriented, energetic, and have excellent people skills. Required skills include: proficient with Microsoft Office 2003 applications, including Microsoft Word and Access, effective communication skills (both verbal and written) and proven organizational skills. Requires knowledge of volunteer supervision and managing logistics. Demonstrated ability and experience working with staff and clients of varying cultures and backgrounds. Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) preferred.
