Accounting Manager General Fund
The Jewish Community Federation is the central organization for fundraising, planning, outreach and leadership development of Bay Area Jewish communities. Our San Francisco office, located by the Embarcadero, is seeking an Accounting Manager to supervise all aspects of the Finance and Accounting Departments General Fund Operations through direct supervision of a Senior Accountant and 3 staff accountants.
Key Responsibilities:
Campaign/Accounts Receivable
Check and commit all RE/MIP entries
Post journal entries daily to General Ledger
Attend weekly OPS meeting between Accounting, IT and Campaign Departments
Plan & supervise Accounting department activities for Super Sunday
Assist Collections Manager
Work closely with Controller to insure the accuracy of all RE/MIP financial information
General Ledger
Manage the accuracy and timely processing of all transactions
Review journal entries which exceed a specified amount, as well as all entries prepared by the Senior Accountant
Manage monthly reconciliations of all bank and general ledger accounts
Manage chart of account maintenance
Record all grants made to/from the General Fund (including Overseas)
Tax and Audit
Prepare forms 990, 990T, 5500, welfare Exemption and others as needed
Prepare year-end work papers and financial statements for Audit
131 Steuart Street Supporting Foundation
Record monthly transactions into General Ledger from property managers reports
Prepare year-end work papers and financial statement for Audit
Miscellaneous
Liaison with IS and Campaign departments
Assist staff with accounting questions
Assist Senior Manager of Investments and Financial Reporting and the financial analyst as needed
Miscellaneous projects for the Controller
Qualifications:
5+ years experience; non-profit experience strongly preferred
Bachelors degree in Accounting required
Ability to work with a team as well as independently
Excellent communication skills and organization
Microsoft Office including strong Excel experience
Highest professional integrity
