Sewing Basics II: Zippers, Casings, and Buttonholes, Oh My! (Adv. Beginner)

Mon, February 27, 2006 6:30PM-9:30PM OR Sun, March 12, 2006 11:00AM-2:00PM

$50

Now you know how to sew a seam: start building up your arsenal of techniques for creating the closures that make a garment WORK! You will create a tactile reference page for a 3-ring binder while learning to use some of the most common notions found on garments. You will learn how to make a casing for elastic or a drawstring, how to sew a buttonhole, how to correctly sew on a button, and the basics of setting a zipper. In addition, you will learn all about the different types of interfacing, and when and why to use each one. The $10 kit fee includes everything you'll need to make your tactile reference page plus informative text pages, but please bring small (but at least 9" X 9") pieces of fabrics you would like to work with in the future, and we'll cover how to adapt the techniques to your fabrics!
