This a unique opportunity to live in one of two 4 unit apartment building, part of a developing mini ecovillage community on the waterfront in San Mateo. There are gardens and chickens and folks to share work with toward a more sustainable lifestyle. This includes a commitment to the commununity garden. The community, and shared meals, have been mostly vegetarian, though individuals in each apartment decide what is ok in that apartment. We have an emphasis on organic, natural food and being conscious of how our consumption choices effect the planet.
You are looking for a different type of living situation because you are a rather unique person. You shop for natural foods with your cloth bag, organic whenever you can and are even a gardener....or would like to be. You have one or more social or political causes which you feel deeply about. You're committed to personal and planetary transformation. You would appreciate a non-smoking environment, sitting in a hot tub watching a full moon rise over the water or watching the birds fly over the lagoon from our 400 sq ft dock, and surprise, a DSL network.

Each building has two 2 BR-1ba and two 3BR-2ba units. We have one downstairs 3BR still available in our first building for rent for $1900 (+$50 for on site parking place.) This is the apartment that we are considering setting up as a shared apartment because a very wonderful sounding woman has contacted us about living in the building. So she will take one room and there will be two more, one for $650 that will share the bath with her and another for $750 will a private bath.
There are also two 2 BR-1ba apartments for which we are seeking coowners, but we will rent them to folks considering home ownership with a TIC agreeement.
All rents do not include utilities. On units on which we have solar power, there is a flat charge for electrictiy to help pay for the solar installation and gas is to be paid as billed by PG&E.
Pets that wander outside will not work with the garden. Pets that bark will not work with people.
