This unit is the upper floor flat of a Victorian 4plex that is located on Fairview St between King St and California St ,and is a quick 3 block walk from Ashby BART.It is 1.2 miles to the main entrance to UCB.And it is very close to Emeryville.Food shopping and freeways are about 2/3 of a mile away.It is very convenient for JFK,CCA and Expressions students.
The location is a safe and quiet Berkeley pyloned dead end street.The residents are a mixture of students,professionals,and families,and ethnically mixed as well.It is that proverbial melting pot block of peace and quiet.The neighbors in the building are great,nice,quiet,etc...and the block is quiet.Being a dead end street,very little traffic.
The roomates are all in their mid to upper 20s,all employed(non students but college graduates)and 3 males.They are Nick,26,coolege grad from UC Davis,major philosophy,positive thinker/always upbeat,works as a loan officer at a credit union,goes to the gym a lot,energetic....Toby,25(maybe 26-who keeps track of birthdays),very easy going,works at a mentally challenged kids school in Contra Costa county,has a girlfriend and friends in Berkeley and stays at his girl friend;s place a couple/few days a week,humorous...and Marcelo,college grad from UCB,works in San Francisco as a Foreign research guy for folks seeking visas,29,easy going but a little reserved.Eveyone is drama free,easy to get along with,considerate,flexible.To be honest,the housekeeping has been a little relaxed in recent months(due ,in part, on outgoing roomate),but folks are inclined to raising it back to a tidier ,cleaner common space.
A female would be a great addition,but it is understood that with 3 males,that may be a bit of a challenge.But who knows...it's a drama -free household.You can whip the boys into a better household with a female energy.
The owner reserves the attic for future development and occasionally comes and goes as needed.He is very easy going and not overly landlord-like.
There is only one bathroom,but the reality has proven that ,based on diverse schedules and Toby being away a couple/few nights a week,the one bathroom issue is really not an issue.The stove is gas,and there is ample cabinetry for everyone and a big fridge.
The place is very comfortably sized.There is better quality carpet,cermamic tile in the kitchen,bath,and utility areas.
Other than that ,the PGE is hanging around $20-25 bucks.The security deposit is 1.5 times the rent($875),and someone who intends on staying longer is preferred for stability.
