$500650 - Seeking an awesome roommate to go apartment hunting

Title $500650 - Seeking an awesome roommate to go apartment hunting

Description I would love to find a great future roommate with whom to go apartment hunting! My current roommate accepted a promotion that requires him to move to the east coast so sadly I must say goodbye to him and find someone new. :( I could stay in the current apartment and have a roommate move in here, but he’s been here for almost 7 years (I’ve been here less than that) and there is a LOT of “wear and tear” to the point that I’d rather start out in a fresh apartment on equal footing with a new roommate. :) He's leaving at the end of April so I'd like to move either at the same time or before then. My locations of choice: Cupertino, Sunnyvale, San Jose west, Mountain View, Santa Clara, and potentially other areas. I'm not looking to move into an existing household - I'd like to start out fresh.

I am less interested in having someone just take up space and pay some rent than to have someone with whom I can share a home, someone with whom I can be social, someone I can respect and who respects me in return. It is easiest to earn my respect if you demonstrate that you make good choices in all areas of your life and that you also communicate positively and effectively with everyone you encounter. Sort of like the saying goes, if you are rude to the waiter, you are not a very nice person – and that does not earn respect from me. Please read through everything below as I am trying to include some of the most important aspects about me. If you find you do not want to read it all, please move on to the next ad. :)

Some of the key details about me:

* I am a 28-year-old female

* I have a cat but she is currently at my parents’ house. While she COULD stay there, I would LOVE to be able to bring her into my new apartment if at all possible. I clean up after her quite well – you wouldn’t even smell the litter box

* Some labels into which I fit either fully or at least mostly: Pisces (yep, it was just my birthday about a week ago!), atheist, geek - perhaps a geek in training at the very least, Libertarian - though occasionally Democrat, kinky - though not in my own apartment and never with a roommate, Pesco-Pollo ‘Vegetarian’ - I only eat some seafood and poultry as far as meat goes and do not mind what you would eat, Miata enthusiast… I cannot think of anything else at the moment, may add more later

* I work full time in a space-holding, bill-paying position in the tech industry but I JUST (today! Yay!) got my MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) Internship number from the state of California so I can look for an internship to further my long-term career goals – no worries, I will not accept an internship that will not pay ALL of my bills, so do not fret about that

* I am financially responsible (example, I have paid off my credit card in full every month since I got it right out of high school and I have a retirement fund that I started several years ago) and would like a roommate who also has excellent credit and will pay bills on time

* I LOVE to cook and if we have similar tastes in food and you pitch in for the groceries I would love to cook for us both (and/or any guests we might have) for the mealtimes when I am around

* I very much enjoy socializing with people and go out with friends at least one to two times per week. I would love to have a roommate that is also sociable and can enjoy hours upon hours of conversation, ranging from total silliness to intellectual debate and everything in between, but who also can sit in silence comfortably in the same room for extended periods of time – say, when we are both on our computers or just because we don’t feel chatty that night

* I guess I should put myself into the “neat freak” category now that I’ve compared myself to enough roommates over the years. Although NOT in any kind of OCD sort of way. Do what you want in your room (hell, I do!) but I prefer common areas to be lacking in clutter and dirt whenever possible. As far as the cleaning – if you spill, wipe it up. If you dirty dishes, put them in the dishwasher. If the dishwasher is full, run it. If the trash is full, empty it. If mold is growing in the shower, clean it. These are not difficult things but if you find them to be distasteful, either I get a SIGNIFICANT break in the rent to clean up after you or you should find a different roommate. That said, I AM okay with a significant rent break to clean up (though I’d like to see where you currently live first to see what I’d be dealing with). :)

* I am not always around since I spend the night at my boyfriend’s house regularly but I still expect you to behave towards me with all of the courtesy you would extend to someone that was around all of the time

* I am a relatively light sleeper and need between 8 and 9 hours of sleep per night – this is probably the only point that is an absolute requirement. I do not mind if you want to stay up all hours of the night but when I go to bed (usually around 10:30 pm), the noise volume must decrease significantly so that I will not be prevented from falling asleep. Luckily I sleep in my own apartment relatively infrequently so most nights you can be as loud as you like as late as you want (provided neighbors and/or police do not show up to complain) but when I am there, this is not negotiable. I can usually sleep through a medium volume of TV/movies (it is more of a white noise so easier to sleep through) than, say, people talking

* I do not use drugs and I drink infrequently though only socially and not to get drunk - never had a hangover let alone been sick from it

* I LOVE Halloween – if you would be interested in having the whole place decorated Halloween-style year round I am very, very open to that. If not, no worries as all my decorations are stored right now and I wont break them out unless there is an interest ;)

Regarding a future apartment, my needs and wants are these: large bedroom or else room for a book case and desk in common areas, ample storage don’t mind sharing a bathroom, dishwasher is a must, AC and double pane windows are a bonus, washer and drier in the apartment is a ~huge~ bonus. Things that I bring with me: a COMPLETE kitchen with matching everything to cook and bake, well, pretty much anything you could ever want (if you also have kitchen items, please plan to store them as I will more than fill every cupboard in almost any size kitchen with high quality wares), a pine kitchen table with matching chairs, oak base with glass top coffee table and two matching end tables, an oak entertainment center, 27 inch TV, VCR, old school Nintendo with lots of great games from the 80s heh… I also have a couple furniture items stored at my parents’ house that can stay there including antique oak bookcase and desk combination and a cedar lined oak chest. Oh, and technically an upright grand piano – but that is only going to be moved once – when I actually live in a place that I own. heh But with these prices, that will be a while!

Wow. Did you get this far? hehe If you think this sounds interesting and would like to see if we would be good as roommates, write back and tell me about yourself. I put effort into this posting, please put some effort into your reply. :) I would like to spend some time getting to know my future roommate and, ideally, you would like to get to know the person with whom you will be sharing your living space for an extended period of time as well.

Thank you for your time and I’m looking forward to communicating with you soon!
